Álvaro Arriagada – The Bicentenario’s Winemaker

Álvaro Arriagada graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile as an Agricultural Science Engineer and Enologist and earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. With over 15 years experience in the wine industry, he has always sought to create wines of the highest quality. His contribution to the prestige of Chilean wines has been recognized. Since 1992, he has worked as the chief Enologist and General Manager of the company. Among his greater achievements is the creation of one of the finest wines of Chile, Casa Donoso D, which has obtained many international prizes and earned praise from wine critics in the specialized press. Another of his creations, the line 1810, pioneered and promoted the blend with Carmenere, thus creating our Casa Donoso 1810 Cabernet Sauvignon – Carmenere and Casa Donoso 1810 Carmenere – Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Casa Donoso 1810 was named in honor of the Chilean Independency, which was signed in Talca's city.

For the last few years Alvaro has taken over the development of the line Bicentenario de Chile, a contribution in the history of the Chilean wines. As the owners of this brand, we are proud to say that Casa Donoso is the vineyard of the Bicentennial.

The Bicentenario line brings together the Chilean winemaking experience of the last 200 years. It places in the bottle the best of our land, together with elegance and flavor.
